Yesterday was the day with the most Mitsubishi Montero drive time, so far...

Home to Mall of Asia
Mall of Asia to Victoria Court Cuneta
Victoria Court to Domestic Road
Domestic Road to Airport
Airport to Mandaluyong

I felt that my hands were glued to the steering wheel already. The good news is even though I have driven till 9pm I did not feel any discomfort with the stock Mitsubishi Montero Waterproof Bucket Seats.

Crash Report: Montero Crashes Sohotel Malate

Earlier I crashed a column while backing up while inside the Sohotel premises. This is the second crash this month. I just had the front right flare garnish repaired last Thursday. Oh well, charge to experience once again. Really disappointed.

Maybe if I spray with black paint it will not be so obvious. Click to enlarge.

First Visit: Alabang

Parked alongside another vehicle without plates. Click to enlarge.

First visit to Alabang Town Center. Open parking area was disorganized and some portions were hazardous. They had no wheel stoppers, no gutters just painted floor guides. You could easily get bumped by the vehicle parking behind you. The parking area was at an incline, which made parking even more difficult. If you're parking make sure you are on the highest area so that no car will accidentally roll and bump your car.

First 1000 Kilometers

First 1000 Kilometers. Click to enlarge.
I made sure I got a pic of my first 1000 km reading on my Mitsubishi Montero. This was taken along Libis at 30 km/h just before the Eastwood entrance. I had to slow down just to get a snap but I still got a blurry shot. Looking forward to my first 5000 approximately on February 2011.

First Visit: San Miguel

Mitsubishi Montero in San Miguel, Philippines. Click to enlarge.

Visited "the farm" on my second week with the Mitsubishi Montero. I finally got to test its off-road capabilities. I was pleased with the way the SUV handles itself. There is a certain way of driving when you're not on paved road. You have to go reasonably fast so that the shock absorption systems are able to work on the Montero. If you move slow the up and down motion will be transferred to the cabin, going fast cancels the opposing forces. Soft tires also help in cushioning the minor bumps. Except for really big potholes, small to medium sized are better traversed at higher speeds. A 1 meter by 1 meter by 6 inches deep hole is medium sized and is manageable at 50 km/h. Just remember that rough roads are different from concrete streets because concrete have sharper edges.

Farthest drive to date.
I have more pictures of my Montero in San Miguel, Philippines posted at ctlyf.com. I also uploaded some geotagged photos just for fun. This SUV can do rough roads, definitely!

Poor After Sales Service of Diamond Motors

The "Estimators" of Diamond Motors Quezon Avenue and Marcos Hi-way branches are very slow to respond. Maybe they are over-tasked? They do the estimate, they file the paperwork, they talk to the repairmen and then talk to the customers. Multiply that by the number of customers that they multi task. That's a lot.

My first attempt at repair was at Diamond Motors Marcos Hi-way. The estimator was Mark. I had to wait for 30 minutes at 10 in the morning. Mark was busy estimating something else. Diamond Motors had lots of middle men that give traffic directions to customers, "you can wait in the lounge sir". Nothing is really done by having lots of traffic guys in your facility. You end up with a full lounge.

Increase your receptionists so customers are well taken cared off. Diamond Motors Marcos Hi-way only had 2 estimators, Mark and Cesar, and Cesar called in sick that day. Maybe I was told wrong. After waiting the estimate was P6,000. After a closer check up it increased to P9,000. 5 days. 5 days was unacceptable. I would pay for P10,000 if they could do it in 2 days but they can't.

My second attempt was this morning at Diamond Motors Quezon Ave. I was assisted by Toti. Waited for 1 hour because Toti was multi tasking and he kept on going to the repair area and I was left waiting for him in the lounge. I told the customer traffic guy that I will be leaving in a few minutes if Toti keeps leaving me. Maybe they have a secret door from the repair area to the canteen? Toti's estimate was P6,900. 2 days.

How come they have different rates for repair?

I've decided to have the repair done today at Diamond Motors Quezon Avenue. I'll write about it when I get back my Montero this Thursday. I hope there will be no surprise additions to the repair bill.

Mitsubishi Montero Plastic Parts

The front and rear bumpers of the Mitsubishi Montero 2010 are made of plastic. I was surprised how easy it was to deform the bumpers. To give you an estimate comparison it's like the top cover of a laptop. Really soft and flexible. My refrigerator is harder.

Softness is marketed as Crumple Zones.

My Mitsubishi Montero Blog Expectations

I will be keeping this blog for fun and not task myself with updating regularly. Since Google still has my Adsense account disabled I will not be getting anything in return from this blog, hopefully this adds to my credibility in reviewing the Mitsubishi Montero 2010. That's the exact search phrase I used when I was scouring the net for the Montero field report. If your here because of that then this plan of mine is working. Hehe.

Mitsubishi Montero Review

Day 001. Click to enlarge.

Catchy title huh? If you are here then you are contemplating on buying a Montero and you are searching the internet for reviews of the Mitsubishi Montero 2010.

You have probably read several articles about the Montero and probably viewed some old Youtube videos of the old Montero. I have decided to write this as it comes, without order and with all the excitement! YEAH!

Tomorrow marks my second week of driving this SUV!
